Our planes are old.
Has any one ever provided a replacement set of wings for the Cessna 170?
I don t need a set but was just wondering about major space parts for the future.
Would a replacement set be flush riveted?
Regards

Grady,
When I updated my 170 I had Williams in Kendelville, IN build up a new set of wings. They have lots of used wings including my old set.

Don't know where you live but there are many shops around the country that can totally rebuild or fabricate new wings, ailerons, rudder, horiz stab, vert stab, and elevators using accurate jigs so everything lines up properly.
Getting the work done should not be a problem but will be expensive, just like everything else.
Wingnut should be able to comment on flush rivits but I have never seen it done on rebuilds. Don't know what it would really help on a 100kt airplane, especially for the added expense if it can legally be done at all.

Would flush rivets require the addition of vortex generators to refresh the boundary layer losses?
