So does this mean his airplane is more or less as fast as a BLUE one?

Yes it is likely more fast rather than less fast. The blue is just to tricky to figure .Ryan Smith wrote:So does this mean his airplane is more or less as fast as a BLUE one?

Beautiful plane. Since I don't have mine (yet), I won't comment on the color, so it can't be used against me in the future.

Plane looks awesome....congrats!!
As a guy with a 2 year old remember this equation: Kids + Food + Airplane = Mice
That being said, it doesn't get any better for me than to be flying with my boy!!

Re: Finally got my 170 home
Thanks to everyone for the congrats, much appreciated.
I heard next summer and St. Louis.....Is this the site of the next 170 Convention? Awesome if so, 3 hours or so for us.
Terry,
Good look finding your plane as most of these guys will tell you try to be patient. I was a little patient.
Ryan,
I put out a thread asking for help on the green/red debate a few weeks back. I was concerned about how I would be accepted if I bought a plane with both colors on it. As Bruce pointed out, there more Green than red....Maybe that will save me with some.
bigrenna,
I really wanted the big tires on but took the advice of folks with more tail wheel time than I did. I wasn't sure what to expect on the big tires but I am looking forward to trying them out but most of all I love the look.
I am looking forward the first time I get the kids off the ground, just excited about seeing the look on their faces. Maybe the excitement will still for many years.
What is the best way to get in touch with the 170 members in my area. Are most of the fly ins posted on this forum somewhere.

Re: Finally got my 170 home
Justin, you may see 170 fly ins posted on this forum---or not. You need to check your 170 directory for 170 members in you area. Also maybe some of the members in your area will see your post here and get in contact with you. Other, non 170, fly ins can be a good way to meet 170 members as they often attend fly ins, pancake breakfasts, etc. Good luck and if you find you are having trouble contacting 170 members, let us know.

Re: Finally got my 170 home
Good Job!, Justin!
And that RED stripe (which leads the way ahead of most of that Green) will likely help keep the plane pointed in the RIGHT DIRECTION anD RIGHT-SIDE-UP!
As for the challenging fields.... I'd advise you to explore the asphalt/hard-paved runways with "enthusiastic caution." The soft fields can lead you to overconfidence, if you're not careful. Those paved runways are the ones that provide just enough additional adhesion for the tires to forever threaten a groundloop. After 40 years of flying taildraggers I STILL raise my awareness-level a notch when approaching a paved runway, and consider grass a blessing.
Again, Congratulations! (and who knows, maybe you've introduced this association to a meeting-of-the-hearts-and-minds on that red/green thing!)
