I think they add value George but like a polished plane, wheel pants or auto fuel use, it's a personal thing. I think I spelled out pretty clearly and fairly what the risk is if he doesn't like them.

As a ragwing owner I think it would be interesting to see what they would do. Anything you can do to make a plane fly slower would add a safety value.

I didn't have VG's on my 170B, but did have a set on my ragwing Piper (TriPacer). If I had another ragwing Piper, I'd certainly spend the money on them. It took a little extra care when washing the plane, but really not a big deal. The improvement in slow handling performance was more than worth the extra minute or two it took when washing.

Thanks for all the input on getting the VG's. I am going to go ahead and get them. Bruce made some good points about washing and wing covers.
I live in Seattle and my plane is tied outside. nuff said on that point. Never any snow to scape off, but I keep a bunch of old bedsheets and blankets to through on for predawn flights to Montana so I can get over the high stuff before dark.
I'll keep you posted about the STC.

I keep my 170 at S50 (Auburn). I believe we have met and spoken before. I hope to see you this summer and if you need a ride back from Anacortes, keep me in mind.

AGIN AN AGIN AN AGIN???????????????????

I searched this out and found a lot of funny stuff, stuff I had forgotten I wrote, but maybe there was a serious discussion there somewhere.

This is the thread that I re-read the other nite while thinking about Joe Harris.
