Guess I stepped in it this time

Its not the first time and I'm sure not the last
Kyle, thanks for your reply. We will just wait until the registration form is ready and go from there. By the way, does Minneapolis and St Paul have any of this confusion that its neighbors to the South on I-35 do
Actually there are a lot of nice folks over in Dallas and some even move to Fort Worth as soon as they can. I appreciate the flight crews who use Dallas/Fort Worth in their cabin announcements. For yrs when the cabin attendants told us to be sure we were on the correct plane, that the plane was going to Dallas (D/FW) I would tell them I guessed I was on the wrong plane because I was going to FW. Some got a kick out of it and some probably wanted to kick me. Now I just ignore the reference and try to avoid flying commercially whenever I can---not because of the D/FW deal, but due to TSA.

Hi Frank,
Sometimes folks from St. Paul get justifiably miffed if you call it Minneapolis, but judging by the conversation here, we don't get as excercised about it as some Texans do about their turf. Minneapolis and St. Paul each have their own flavor and personality, but they're not different countries!

God Bless Ft.Worth. It's the only town I've ever seen where the bootblacks in the shoeshine stands finish off your boots with with a little pinch of horse bleep.

If Minneapolis and St. Paul are twins, it sounds like Dallas and Ft. Worth are step sisters that don't really like each other...

What I don't understand is, ... why Frank gets so upset over this. He doesn't even live in Fort Worth. HE lives in CROWLEY!

George, you know what I'm going to say (generally), but here goes anyway. I lived in FW for more yrs than I have lived in Crowley and after all, Crowley is surrounded on 2-3 sides by FW so my loyalties lie with the Tarrant County city even though my paycheck comes via a Dallas County location. If that doesn't confuse you, I'm not doing my job very well

Dallas is a great financial center as most know. Its a bit upsey for me, thus I have never chosen to live there and don't ever plan to do so. It is a bit fast paced for Ole Pokey

Fort Worth, on the other hand, is a big city with a bit more small town atmosphere where you can meet a stranger on the sidewalk and say "Hello" and expect to most likely receive a "Hello" in reply. I think George Hamilton (the singer) said it best in his song "Cowtown. As he says, your never meet a stranger there. Both of them have too many people, two few roads to handle the crazies

Its that FW just doesn't get the credit it deserves and for the media and others to think everything in the 14 county metroplex (metromess

) is dallas is sometimes hard to accept. We need another Amon Carter, SR to tout FW. Sorta like Democrates vs Republicians or Red Airplanes vs Green one, but you wouldn't know anything about that would you George

Having lived in Fort Worth myself (used to fly off of Russell Field when Hap Foster managed it and old Col. Williams critiqued the student's landings)... I have to agree that FTW is the best big town in north Texas. Got my ATP checkride done at GSW (that's Greater Southwest Airport to you bluEldr) and did the preparation at ACME in the old Meacham terminal building when there were still big, propeller-driven airliners serving the facility and it had a genuine terminal cafe operational.
Sadly, Russell Field is no more.
Old pics of the field and stories can be scrolled thru at:

The wondrous thing is how long it takes for him to think it, before he commits it to writing. If standing nearby...you can smell the rags burning!
