Thanks for the pedantic diatribe (Definition 1, Merriam-Webster) there George, but it's obvious you haven't been a member of the Association as long as Frank and I. If you'll go back to some of the older publications, you'll find that the folks we now call Area Reps used to be State Reps. To better recognize the fact that we are an International organization, we changed the designation. (I don't remember when that happened, but evidently it was sometime between 1988 and 1999.) It's fairly common for us "old timers" to occasionally revert to the old (original ) nomenclature.

Welcome Glenn, we have all benefited from these forums. In the future, I'm sure that you will have an opportunity to add to our distribution of experiences and knowledge in the forums. The club has been fortunate to maintain and disseminate this knowledge base over the years by retaining its experienced members. And yet with all this knowledge here its the belief of many, that one day it will be a new 170 owner that arrives at a definitive answer to a problem yet unsolved. Why is that green airplanes fly faster than red ones ?

Might that be Seven Lakes airport (62GA) in the picture of your airplane? In 1982, I took delivery of my 170B at Bear Creek airport, now known as Clayton County Airport, Tara Field (4A7).

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. That picture was taken @ Peachstate (GA2) as I was taking off. 60V is based @ Griffin (6A2) and I've done many a pracitce landing while getting my TW endorsement @ Tara (4A7). Tell Jeff not to be a stranger he sees me or my plane.

My hangar is at Thomaston (OPN), although my airplane is currently in North Carolina being re-assembled. I'll be back over that way soon though. We have a couple of members in Newnan too.

I'll drop you a note when I get back over that way and see if we can meet for a burger or something.

I have a work buddy who's got a 150 down there (OPN). I'm always up for a burger and look forward to it Keith.

Forgive me lord for I must confess. Just spent about a month contemplating buying a 180 and selling my 170. First stop was the 180/185 club website. There was no comparison. Soon I developed the jitters as I learned that I would no longer have the tremendous support afforded by this site. There appears to be no leadership to their site and it feels less friendly because it is a much bigger group. The help I have recieved over the last 4 years from the association website makes owning my 1320D much more enjoyable. To all the new participants- please participate, we all make this site what it is- truely a treasure. Thanks to all and still with ya Steve
