MacCauley Two-Position Prop

Drove down to NC this last weekend to look at a 1956 170B that's for sale.
It is equipped with a MacCauley two-position prop (cruise and TO). Prop has not been overhauled since 1966. Owner "loves it".
Anybody have any experience with this prop? Are parts available? Can I replace it easily with a fixed-pitch prop if necessary?

Exactly what was the model prop, and what was his basis of approval for installing it on a 170?

The MacCauley prop is a 2B36C7/78K-2.

The authority to use it on the 170B can be found in the Type Certificate Data Sheet No. A-799, page 7, para 1.(d).

Yep, if it's on a C-145-2H engine then it's legal. I'd sure like to see it myself and fly it around the patch.
