I don't know about the rest of the country, but the four "permanent" TFR's in western Washington have been reconfigured as of Jan 9,2004. All of them are somewhat smaller & rectangular in shape, where they were round before. The TFR over Indian Island Navy Base appears to be changed the least. The TFR's over Everett Navy Base, Bremerton Naval Shipyard & Bangor Submarine Base are all substantially smaller & user-friendly,especially Bangor. The new notams gives lat/long points to plot the new TFR boundaries (a tedious exercise) but the AOPA website has charted illustrations.
It's about time! However,AOPA sez that the FAA might be including these new TFR's on the next issue of charts, which is another step closer to making them permanent.

Our local FAA rep also sends us local notam info by email every week that concerns our area. AOPA has the most up to date info for flying that there is for us and I also get their email updates every week to help me stay out of trouble.
