Whitewalls
Crew cut, white tee shirt, cat’s eye glasses, and whitewalls. Doesn’t get more 1950’s than this!Grace Flying Service’s website with permission.

Re: Whitewalls
Don't ever remember seeing white walls on an airplane in the late 40's-50's. That doesn't mean they didn't exist. Anybody remember or have photos?

Here’s Tom Rutigliano’s reply:n2582d wrote:You never asked Cleo? This is the first picture I’ve ever seen of a 170—or any plane for that matter—with whitewalls. I’ll ask Desser.
A quick Google search shows that the Germans used whitewalls on BF-109’s in Africa.Cool photo, those tires must have been a special order or as you mentioned painted. Manufactures would not put the time in to produce now.
Crew cuts ... flat tops ... I’m clearly no expert on ‘50’s haircuts. I’ll defer to you on this Richard!hilltop170 wrote:Don’t forget flat top haircuts!n2582d wrote:Crew cut, white tee shirt, cat’s eye glasses, and whitewalls. Doesn’t get more 1950’s than this!

Re: Whitewalls

I don’t know anything about crew cuts but THIS is a proper flat top!

Wow Richard! I can only assume they’ve combined the laser level with a barber’s clipper. Or maybe you slowly dip your hair upside down in an acid? That’s flat! This is all I could come up with online.
