George or others, please give me the part number for the above seal. Un fortunately my engine manual is at the hangar, 25 miles away and I need to get the part number so I can give it to the alternator repair shop & they can get one to install in the tach drive.
Is there any better way to look up old posts that (in this case would have this part # listed) other than to go back through multiple prior posts hoping to find the right one?
thanks in advance :

"Generator/Alternator Garlock (spindle oil seal) Tach Drive"
I think you are refering to part annotated in the C-145 , O-300 Service Parts Catalog as number 21163 Seal, Tachometer Drive Housing, Oil.

Frank, I saw you at the Tehachapi convention. I saw you at the maintenance seminar. Therefore I know you have the 170 Service Manual, Electrical Systems manual. If you look on page 5, at the second paragraph from the bottom (the "Caution" paragraph)...you'll see where I recommended replacing that seal when replacing the generator. (And I gave the part numbers whenever possible throughout that manual when I addressed such items. It's listed there, ... PN 642714).

Thanks to all who responded.
Yes George, I have the electrical system manual---at the hangar, not here at the house.

However had I been at the hangar and wanting to find the part number I most likely would not have thought to have looked in the electrical system manual. Now that you mention it I see the connection between the generator/alternator (electrical system) and the tach drive

, but normally I would not have associated the two together since the only relation they have to one another happens to be the gasket and I suppose the drain galley to return the oil back to the sump. I would have come nearer looking in the 0-300 overhaul manual, but alas it is at the hangar too.
