Valdez Fly-In 2007

Post by BobK »

Howdy all !

I just wanted to say how much fun I had at this years Valdez, Alaska Fly-In 2007, and that congratulations are due to a fellow forum member...

N9062A won the Light Touring Class STOL Competition in his beautiful 170 A-Model. Beating not only another 170 B-Model, but a 180hp 172, among others ! I was very impressed by his performance. Congrats David !

Also impressive was the new "Carbon Cub" and its incredible performance with a 19' take-off... 8O Amazing !

The weather could've been better, but fun was still had by all that were there. I hope to see more people there next year !

Hasta ~

Here's a couple of videos from the Fly-in. I'd guess winds were down the runway at about 15kts.

Neat planes and great people. The "carbon cub" is an experimental with 200hp I think.

The orange cones in the videos are set up 100' apart.

So JR were you the 172 TD that competed? I wish I had been able to go. My Dad was having medical issues so I stayed close to home. Oh well maybe next year.

no. mag issues grounded me for the weekend, so I packed up the family and we rented an rv and drove out.

That was actually a 175 TD that competed.
