C-170 Members in SE Texas

Post by 170C »

Has anyone gotten a report on how vrs members fared during hurricane Ike? I have been unable to get through to the ones I have tried to call and assume phone service is still out as of today (Monday, 9-15).

We paid the phone company to re-program your phone to give you a busy signal whenever you tried to call any of us.

Jon, it's just a friendly little joke.

The electric power is down in large areas of Houston, Beaumont, Triangle area and it may be up to two weeks in some cases. Anyone with a "wireless" hand-held phone in their homes may not realize their phone will not ring without an old-style hard-wired phone hooked up. My Mother lives in S.E. Houston and it finally was pointed out to her on day two. She hooked up the old original phone and we finally were able to get thru to her.

Can't say as I blame them for changing their p#'s  Apparently most folks are like us and have only one or no hard wired phones any more. We have ONE! Haven't been able to contact anyone in the greater Houston area and apparently power and/or lines are down. Jeanne McGown said their son in Montgomery lost pwr and was told it might be 3-4 wks before it could be restored. What a bummer :? Hopefully all got by with only property damage and no injuries.
