Electronics International Oil Pres/Temp guage

Post by jlwild »

Has anyone installed the Electronic Internaiona Oil Pressure/Temperature guage (OPT-1)in their 170? I currently have the E.I. Volt/Amp and Tachometer guages. They work great and no problems to install. Before adding the E.I. OPT-1 thought I would check with the forum group to see if they have experienced any issues they could pass on :D

I've got one in my 182J and love it. I haven't had any trouble with it.

I've got one Jim for my Lycoming. I found it easy to install as the oil transducer stays on engine side of the firewall, meaning you just have to route 4 wires through the wall to your desired location on the panel. Add a ground, power and light line and you're in business. A year later I purchased the UB16 engine monitor which has extra channels on it that can take the place of the opt-1. So if you're thinking of going down that road you can save some money. I'm not sure on the legal side whether the UB-16 can replace the original gauge but on a practical side they (EI) produce a quality product.
