Go Navy!!!!

Post by jrenwick »

This is very unnerving, landing with deck pitching 30 feet, at night, low on fuel. Incredible. You will never forget viewing this. I have seen a lot of aviation emails but the two videos below are undoubtedly the best. Turn on your sound and go full screen. I guarantee this will definitely hold your attention.

These videos show the difference between Naval Aviation and any other kind. The links below are two outstanding videos about F-18 carrier operations aboard the USS Nimitz during weather that causes a severely pitching deck, which you can see in the videos. It's more dangerous than most combat missions and the tension in the pilots and crew is very apparent. Watch Part 1 first. Great videos

Very intense. Just another example of the kind of things our military does on a routine bases whether it's landing on a pitching deck, walking around land mines and all those necessary not so glamorous jobs that are performed in between.etc etc.

The commentary from the last pilot on deck I'm sure is typical. Not his first experience with a pitching deck but it was his last. Sort of happy about that but at the same time sorry he won't have the opportunity again,

I have had the extreme pleasure of flying with a few dozen Naval Aviatiors through work and while at the United States Naval Test Pilot School. All of them coming through USNTPS have had fleet tours and some of their sea stories are amazing. The great thing I've noticed with all of them is they don't think they're any better than anyone else and their professionalism is superb. I even have the great destinction of flying one of the latest NASA astronuats in my 170 while he was working here at Pax River.

I second the title...Go Navy!
