Interesting story. For the serial number, the 180 parts catalog indicates a completely different instrument panel than what is pictured in my earlier link. Maybe took the headset out of the 180 to fly the "fun-seventy." :D

I agree. The instrument panel, trim along the windshield, post cover, everything looks like a 170A, although I suppose it could be an early 170B. Here's a 1953 180 panel.

Josh, it does seem that the "dash board" it to low to be a 180. Perhaps it was TF-GMG, pictured below.

Yep, definitely a C-170. Well, maybe the guy owns a 170 and a 180! That has been known to happen.

The a/c registration in the picture is on his headset, not the plane.

If someone can enhance the picture, I bet the actual ID for the 170 is on that remote clicker hanging on the air vent which is probably for his hangar door.

It looks to me like it says TF-KAF.
