Birthday Gifts

Post by rhymes »

Today, (Feb. 3) is Kathy’s birthday, and her College was considerate enough to declare it a Flex Day! Blessed with clear and crisp weather, we departed KSVE yesterday afternoon for Redding, CA and spent the night with dear old friends there, catching up and reminiscing. Today after breakfast, we departed for the glorious north coast at Shelter Cove, where we sipped coffee and ate more birthday cake by the crashing waves. A stellar, clear flight over various coastal mountains and the snowy Sierra back home to our hangar and a welcome by the usual Airport regulars completed our day... all thanks to a nice little Cessna 170.
Sure, there were birthday gifts for my sweetheart, but my gift was her bright smile and enthusiasm for each flight...we feel very lucky indeed to be able to live this life!
Thanks for being a part of it,
Bruce and Kathy

Super story Bruce! Give Kathy our best wishes. This would sure make a nice article for the 170 News. How about it?

Well we didn't get to fly but on Feb. 5, Deana's birthday we went to the Pickett House in Woodville, TX to celebrate the country style cuisine. It is still good grub, George. I didn't ask if they still pick up people who land at the local airport but if anyone wants a good country fried chicken dinner it is a good place to fly into.

Pickett House will indeed send a driver to pick you up at the local (unattended) airport Tyler County http://www.airnav.com/airport/09R . It's about a 5 minute drive...30 min walk East.
