Suprised

Post by mike roe »

I had quite a suprise when I pulled the 170 News out of the mail box. On the cover is a picture of my aircraft. It was taken leaving Wings and Wheels at Topping,VA. The plane is still in my hangar 3/4 thru a total restoration. I am just finishing the install of the new firewall. I will post a picture in the next week of the progress. The cover picture gave me some extra incentive to get cracking.

Equally surprised last night when looking through the News and flipped to the back page to see our bird! Even though it's a 54 it has the earlier paint scheme - like Mike's - which I like.

Thanks, Jan for picking/publishing!

Both of these pictures are very nice and we are very happy to have them to print.

I wish it was a matter of "picking" the shots to print but all to often it's printing what we have that meets the specifications. And by specifications I don't mean a pristine example of an original 170 but that the image must have been shot and sent to us with enough resolution. Lots of pictures that are framed nicely and of a good subject can't be used because they just won't work in the print world. This is why we can't in most cases pull a photo from this forum and use it in print.

It's not hard to take a picture with enough resolution these days as even cell phone cameras are now 3 mega pixel cameras. I would recommend a better camera than your cell phone for other reasons but the point is that most cameras people are using today set at the highest setting will be fine. And it doesn't even take the ability and time to burn it to a disk and sending it. Email can work.

So lets get photos to Jan. Photos of anything you'd like to see in print. We'll even print pictures of red airplanes.

Fortunately, most digital cameras have sufficiently fast shutter speed these days to avoid the
blurring which is so common when photographing red airplanes.

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)

But the shutter speed is still not fast enough to catch a Green plane without blur which explains why we don't see photos of them as often.

Here is an example of what George would see from his Red plane as I pass him by.....
