Hey everybody, just wanted to say Hi. I have been lurking here for a while and I finally bought an airplane this summer. I picked it up in RAP and flew it out here to Seattle. Great trip. It's a work in progress but it's airworthy non-the-less. What a great resource this is and I'm excited to be part of it. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Welcome aboard Simon. There's a tremendous amount of knowledge and good people here as I'm sure you've discovered.

Keep us posted on your "work in progress"

"Simon" Good luck with your new found treasure. Don't know whether you're a member, but in our last quarterly I wrote about my experiences at our annual convention. Probably the best thing about this group is that when you get to know and sometimes meet the participants, you'll appreciate to the full extent the knowledge, passion and good humour that they bring to this group. I found them even funnier in person than they appear in print.

Bonney Lake Eh? Could you perhaps be Jevon Simon, that intrepid avator I solo'd in my Chief on your 16th bithday? We lived a t Glen Cawley's South Prarie Airport for about seven years :) Say hello for me. Loved the photo of Rainier in the background. Very nice looking plane. I see you're a dad now. Time flies..........

Dave, how the heck are you? Gosh it's been a long time. I see your still snow-birding in the winters, but when you get up here for the summer I'd love to get together. I wish I lived out at South Prarie, maybe someday. I am real close and I drive by there whenever I get an excuse. I remember that blustery november day you soloed me like it was yesterday. Time does fly. PM me and I'll fill you in on the last few years. Good to hear from you.

Congratulations Simon :!:

It's a great feeling to buy a 170. I don't think the novelty of it ever wears off.

What size tires does it have?

Do you carry those wheel chocks with you or just pick them up only when needed?

"Where in hell is RAP?"

I used to live out that way, always preferred the ICAO identifier - KRAP

used to be fun to share the pattern area at Ellsworth AFB with the B1's

I have never trusted airplane parking brakes. The tires are 8.50's but somehow the paperwork got misplaced by the previous owner. I am in the process of correcting the oversight. Anybody know who has the STC for the big tires and what is required by it?
Another thing it has is the Kenmore STC'd 80-40 prop, which really pulls it off the ground well. Unfortuneatly, once airborne it takes a while to go anywhere. It was a factory floatplane and then it spent some time in Alaska, so it has Atlee Dodge ski fittings on it. Between the big tires and all the junk hanging on it, I only get about 105mph on a good day at 2450. My solution, fly low so it looks like I'm going fast. :D

Let me know if you want to sell the prop.
