Maintenance Induced Failures

Post by cessna170bdriver »

Some good reading from Mike Busch at AvWeb. My first engine overhaul was due to a mis-adjusted actuator arm when the pull-type starter was replaced.

I can't help but agree with his theory. It's sort of like "Don't fix something that aint broke".
I've always thought that more damage was done to airplanes opening them up for inspections than they were likely to repair.

Aeroperu 603 (and many other post-mx failures) was assisted by improper/incomplete pre-flight inspection..... not entirely caused by improper mx. But many of the failures I've experienced in airplanes have been subsequent to faulty mx. (Thinking now of the oil leak problems I wrote about at the Las Vegas convention.)

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
